Crochet Acorn Basket with Lid

Description

I crochet the basket stitch by stitch. The dense stitch helps it hold its shape and stand steady, and the lid with its stalk sits on top just like an acorn cap.

It's perfect on a desk, a chest of drawers or in the bathroom: for hair clips, hair ties, keys, jewellery or children's little treasures. In autumn, it's a decoration in its own right – just place it next to dried flowers or pine cones.

It also makes a good gift: for someone who loves things with character, or as a small present for a teacher or friend.

Care

Remove dust with a soft brush or a damp cloth. If needed, hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, gently press out the water and dry flat, shaping by hand. Do not machine wash or dry on a radiator.

I make every piece by hand, so the stitch pattern and shade may differ slightly from the photo. That isn't a flaw – it's a sign that the item was made by hand, not by a machine.
